Description

This course is an Ascentis recognised Access to Physical Education (Teacher Training) award which gives adults (over 19 years) the opportunity to progress into higher education to study in the sector of physical education, sport, exercise, health, leisure and fitness. The teaching of Access to Physical Education provides the student with a balance of both academic and practical units.

The purpose of the Access to PE pathway is to equip students with the skills, knowledge and fundamental understanding, via a wide variety of teaching and learning methods, which will enable them to successfully advance through university

Entry Requirements

Aged 19 (or over) when the course commences. Entry is through an interview and assessment, to ensure that students will both benefit and succeed on the Access to PE qualification. An interest and experience in teaching and coaching sports and exercise is essential

Delivery & Assessment methods

Units are assessed by a variety of methods including; written format, presentation, examination and practical assessments.

Progression

The delivery of physical education has become very important to the national curriculum and teachers of sport and PE are now pivotal to the delivery of the national curriculum, both in state and independent schools.
