Who is the course for?

The course is open to anyone interested in developing skills and knowledge in professional garment construction & textile techniques. There are no formal entry requirements. No experience is needed to join the course as it is mainly aimed at beginners.

What will I study?

The course is designed to give you the opportunity to develop basic knowledge in the field of garment construction & textile techniques. The Certificate is comprised of 2 units; Research and Design Development within a Chosen Craft Area and Making a Finished Craft Piece. You will learn how to understand a pattern, operate a sewing machine and produce a simple pre-cut garment with a small amount of textile surface pattern. Although this course is mainly practical, there is a small element of written theory.

How will the course be delivered?

The course runs for 3 hours per week for 16 weeks. Most of the tools and equipment will be provided but there may be a small cost towards materials.

Course Entry Requirements

No previous knowledge of the subject area is needed
The college operates a no refunds policy as detailed below. Cancellations and transfer requests are subject to the following conditions:
• More than 4 weeks notice – no charge
• 4 weeks notice – 30% of the cost
• 2-3 weeks notice – 50% of the cost
• 1-2 weeks notice – 75% of the cost
• Less than 1 weeks notice – 100% of the cost
• All cancellations must be made in writing and are subject to a £10 administration charge. The full fee’s policy is available on request.
