How you will gain the qualification
The Awarding Organisation is PAA/VQSET.NVQs are assessed in the workplace and the assessment is based on carefully designed plan that looks at your day to day work, and materials such as reports or projects which you produce. Your assessor will also observe your activity, use written or oral questioning and witness testimony as forms of evidence. You will be visited, guided and assessed at regular intervals by your assessor, and where necessary flexible learning tools (e.g. distance learning packs) would be used to provdie underpinning knowledge. Your evidence will also be reviewed by internal and external verifiers.
What qualifications you need
Candidates must be in laboratory employment, and have a minimum
of the following:-
Level 3 Diploma in Applied Science, or 2 relevant Science A
Levels, or Another relevant Level 3 qualification.
A minimum of 5 years experience as a trained laboratory
technician is required.
It is equally important as an entry requirement for Level 4 to
have sufficient autonomy in your role to allow you to provide
evidence of management of a project of sufficient rigour and
complexity for this qualification which is agreed with the College
assessment team.

You may use this qualification to support study of level 4 HNC in Applied Sciences. Candidates use Level 4 experience to seek promoted posts within their occupational sector.
