It is an ideal platform for teaching and continuing professional development as it may open up the opportunity to pursue a career in primary teaching through further postgraduate study or continuing professional development to MA and PhD level.

Study is conducted one evening per week.
There are four possible routes through this degree which include a generic education award, inclusive education, Early Years and a 14-19 agenda strand. All routes begin with Methods of Inquiry in the first term. The second term will split the group into special interest sub-groups who will receive specialist lecturing in:
- Contemporary Issues
- Inclusion for Diversity
- 14-19 Issues
- Early Years, learning through play
In this term students also take part in a weekend conference. The final term is dedicated to Specialised Study or final dissertation. For named awards students must study their specialism in term one and two.
