The spa treatment workshop gives an insight into life working within a spa.

On this course you will get to experience a spa treatment. It's a great way to have hands-on experience of a spa treatment and gain valuable knowledge about spa life.
What is a spa?
A spa is a place where you can get treatments like massage, facials and body treatments. Spas are devoted to enhancing your overall well-being. There are many different types of spa, such as:

* Day spa - offers treatment on a day-use basis. Many also offer salon services.
* Destination spa - its sole purpose is to help you lead a healthier lifestyle through spa treatments, exercise and educational programming. You stay at least two nights. Some have minimum stays of three or seven nights. Spa cuisine is served exclusively.
* Resort/hotel spa - is located within a resort or hotel.

How will I be assessed?

Practical observation.

What will I study?

Throughout the course you will experience the following:

• Basic taster of the practical application of spa treatments
• Basic understanding of the treatment and variety of treatments available
• What is involved in a spa therapist's day-to-day jobs
• Where to go next with training and advancement of skills

What does the course lead to?

The course is a taster session designed to give a little extra knowledge and insight into spa treatments. It provides an insight for the Foundation Degree Spa (Therapies) which is also available at the college.

Entry requirements

You must have a recognised qualification within the beauty or holistic industry and/or training within the Academy.

What will I need for the course?
A pen and writing pad. A uniform is expected to be worn. Suitable underwear or a spare pair of undergarments. Water will be provided throughout the course but if you wish to purchase any other drinks or snacks, please bring a small amount of change.

A hairbrush may be required as the hair will be ruffled during the treatment.
