CACHE CYPOP5 HOMEBASED CHILDMINDING

The Childminding (Childcare) course at The Adult Learning Academy is ideal for anyone who would like to look after children in their own homes. This adult learning course will teach you about all the four main policies regarding being a registered childminder with OfSTED, how to set up your childcare practice, the legislations surrounding childminding, where to find support and information when being a registered childminder and how to have good relations with parents and children when working as a childminder. This Homebased childminding course, based in Enfield, North London will provide you with the qualification (CYPOP5) if you wish to take the childminder registration or wishing to take approved homebased childcare status.

Course Description

This qualification is for those who want to open up their own Childminding business in their homes and is recognised by OfSTED and local councils for registration purposes. It is a CACHE Level 3 qualification (CYPOP 5). Please see below some of the many areas that will be covered on the course: 

• Outline the current legislation covering homebased childcare
• Develop policies and procedures
• Develop a marketing plan and financial planning
• Explain the key components of a healthy and safe home environment 
• Explain how to store and administer medication 
• Describe where you will be able to access sources of information

Recognised CACHE CYPOP5 in Homebased Childcare (meets OFSTED requirements for registration of childminders)

How will I be assessed for the Homebased childminding course?
Students will be assessed by completing a portfolio

What standards do I need in order to join the Homebased childminding course?
You must:
Be able to read and communicate clearly and accurately enough to meet the requirements of the training. NOT have a criminal record which might prevent you from working with children/young people or vulnerable adults.

What will I study?
Introduction to Childcare Practice
This stand-alone unit serves as the basic training for home-based childcare.
You will learn about assessing the home for risks and about making it a safe and
healthy environment for children. You will also learn how to plan the way you will
work with children and how to make a good start in your relationship with the
children's parents/primary carer. The unit also covers child protection issues and the regulations governing home-based childcare.
