IT Architecture Modelling Using ArchiMate 2

Overview

A critical skill that all IS/IT architects must have is the ability to communication architectural ideas in a formal way. At the same time, IS/IT architecting should be focused on capturing ideas, understanding concepts and the relationships between them. The ArchiMate® 2.0 Specification (published by The Open Group) has been designed to address both these requirements. It is a lighweight language based on UML, with capabilities of describing all layers of architecture, from Enterprise through to Technology. The course leads to delegates becoming ArchiMate® Certified

Prerequisites

No formal pre-requisites have been established. This is because there is a broad range of roles that can make use of this language:

• Practicing Architects at all Layers: Business, Applications, Data and Technology/Infrastructure
• Business Analysts and Modellers
• System designers
• Software engineers
• Infrastructure engineers

Delegates will learn how to

• The key objective of this course is to understand the ArchiMate® 2.0 specification, so that the language is understood, and can be used to describe architecture.
• The course is NOT about learning how to be an architect.
• Delegates will also undertake practical exercises which will count towards their accreditation
• Delegates will prepare for the Certified exam taken at the end of the course

Exam
The exam for this course delivered on-line. It will be conducted at a QA site, either immediately at the conclusion of the course, or at a later date if the course is conducted on client-site.
