AS and A2 Drama and Theatre Studies
Level: Level 3
The course takes an academic and practical approach to drama through working closely with the text, learning in detail about plays, different styles of theatre and the work of playwrights and practitioners who have revolutionised theatre and the art of being an actor. Set texts for AS Level are studied in addition to evaluating a live production and performing either a monologue or duologue and a full length play.
In previous years award winning theatre companies have been invited in to run drama workshops focussing on innovative rehearsal techniques and practical exploration of set texts. Trips are arranged to see high end theatre productions in London for students to experie…

Set texts for AS Level are studied in addition to evaluating a live production and performing either a monologue or duologue and a full length play.
In previous years award winning theatre companies have been invited in to run drama workshops focussing on innovative rehearsal techniques and practical exploration of set texts. Trips are arranged to see high end theatre productions in London for students to experience live contemporary performances. Students are expected to be available for these performances which usually take place in the evening and to contribute to the cost of the visit as part of their course.
