Level: Level 2

This course introduces the five main areas of Psychology: developmental (development of personality), social (stereotyping, prejudice and discrimination), cognitive (memory), behavioural (non-verbal communication), and research methods used in psychological investigations.

Lecturers have not only studied Psychology at degree level, but also have other professional qualifications to contribute to their knowledge and understanding of course content. Lecturers also have established good communication links with universities to provide extra information and advice on psychological careers for students.

Apart from the practical element of carrying out experiments on willing participants, students are actively encouraged to discuss their own experiences in class to improve understanding of particular theories / models. We have also introduced a new trip to Vienna to learn more about Freud and Psychoanalysis which is planned for 2012 / 2013.
