Certificate in Swedish Massage

This advanced level course will help you to become an effective practitioner and progress to other therapies within this vocational area.

You will study three units
Provide Swedish Body Massage - effects, benefits, anatomy and physiology
Monitor and maintain health and safety practice in the salon
Client care and communication in beauty related industries.



Approximately one third of your time in college will be classroom based. Learning is by a variety of methods including discussion activities lectures and workshops. Assignments and homework will also be set to gain this qualification. The remaining time will be spent within the practical working salon to practice and perform the practical application of this type of massage. There is a strong emphasis on working and learning with others and you are regularly set tasks to be completed in partnership with other students on the programme. You will also need to be able to work independently and take responsibility for you own learning.

The qualification you will gain is a VTCT Diploma in Swedish Body Massage and Health & Safety.
You will also develop wider skills vital for success in further study or employment, including self confidence, working with others, taking responsibility and time management.
By the end of the course you will have benefited from a valuable insight in future study or careers open to you.

This course is open to beauty therapists and motivated individuals. Candidates will ideally hold an anatomy and physiology qualification.
Your offer is subject to a short interview, full commitment to 100% attendance and a minimum of three hours home study a week; both of which are required to assure successful completion.

On successful completion of the course you can progress to other therapies - for example Indian head massage pre-blended oils or a full-time beauty therapy qualification. Alternatively you may decide to provide treatments for members of your family, the public or work in a salon leisure complex or spa as this is a fully recognised qualification.

You will attend college one evening a week, participating in classroom practical and salon sessions to gain hands-on experience of this wonderful treatment.
