Who is this course for? This is an introductory course aimed at students who have an interest in learning to knit or who already have a basic knowledge of knitting. The course will teach machine knitting and basic hand knitting. What qualifications or experience do I need ? No formal entry requirements. Students should have a general interest in textiles and a commitment to learning to knit. What will I study ? Who is this course for? This is an introductory course aimed at students who have an interest in learning to knit or who already have a basic knowledge of knitting. The course will teach machine knitting and basic hand knitting. What qualifications or experience do I need ? No formal entry requirements. Students should have a general interest in textiles and a commitment to learning to knit. What will I study ? As part of the course program students will be taught a range of techniques on the knitting machines, basic hand knitting and more experimental knitting techniques. You will work with color, different yarns and stitch techniques and will produce a file of technical notes with knitted samples at the end. The course will be student led and once the basics have been covered, students will be encouraged to develop their own ideas through experimentation and research. This may lead to a final product such as an accessory. The course will be delivered through demonstrations, handouts and individual practice. Students will leave with a technical file and a portfolio of their own designs. How will I be assessed ? There will be continuous assessment throughout the course. What qualifications could I achieve ? College Certificate How do I join the course ? Please complete an enrolment form and visit the college, alternatively, post in your application form & payment or phone the college. Will I need an interview ? No Are there any extra costs for equipment/materials ? All materials will be provided but students are welcome to bring their own materials. Students will need to bring their own folder and sketchbook. Further Information Students will be expected to keep a sketchbook and folder for sketching, notes, visual research and keeping handouts.
