The ITQ course is for students who already have some experience of using a computer and would like to improve their skills for the world of work. It is available at Levels 1 and 2. What will I study ? The ITQ qualification allows you to choose which areas of IT will benefit you most, either at work or in your home life. The qualification is divided into units. Each unit has a points value, you will choose units that add up to:- 40 for level 1 and 100 for Level 2. Units that you could study include:- * Using the Internet and Intranet * Email * Word Processing * Spreadsheets * Database * Operate a computer Some evidence of 'real' computer work is required for achievement of the mandatory, core unit. This could be work that you have done on the computer whilst in paid employment, as voluntary work or in a domestic situation such as writing letters, making artwork on the computer or even investigating and booking a holiday on the Internet. How will I be assessed ? You will complete and submit a number of realistic practical activities which will be assessed. In doing this you will build up a portfolio which, when complete, will form the essential evidence of satisfactory completion of the course. You will be observed carrying out some of these tasks. You will also need to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding through questions, reports and professional discussion. What can the course lead to ? Gaining office IT skill will increase your competence, productivity and credibility in the workplace. Certification sets you apart in today's competitive job market, bringing employment opportunities, greater earning potential and career advancement, in addition to increased job satisfaction.
