The course is for practising managers and will provide generic leadership and management skills.

Candidates will complete two mandatory units as part of the Award in Leadership & Management:

Understanding the management role looks at an organisation's purpose, stakeholders, structure and functional areas and management roles. It will help candidates to understand the specific responsibilities of middle managers, how to improve communication and interpersonal relationships which will help achieve organisational goals. Candidates will evaluate their own personal development needs. Assessing your own leadership capability and performance will look at candidate's leadership styles and factors that affect people's motivation.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements but participants will normally be either practising or aspiring middle managers with the opportunity to meet the assessment demands and have a background that will enable them to benefit from the programme. Successful completion of an initial assessment and an interview with a member of the teaching team. No interview is required for this course. Applicants will be invited to enrol before the course is due to start.
Delivery & Assessment methods
Candidates will complete two assessment activities: work based assignment and a reflective review. Candidates will be given support and guidance on completing both tasks.
Progression
Candidates can progress onto an appropriate level management qualification or further study at university. Students may be given the opportunity to progress onto the Certificate in Leadership & Management Skills. In this case a further tuition fee and awarding body fee will be payable.
