The two year programme will be delivered in our new Samsung Experience Academy where students will work with the latest high tech technology products from 3D LED Smart TVs, blu ray players, 3D surround sound systems, PCs and a wide range of Smart hand held devices. Course content
Year 1 (Subsidiary Diploma) • Health and safety in the engineering workplace • Mathematics for engineering technicians • Electrical and electronic principles • Electronic devices and communication applications • Operation and maintenance of electronic systems and components – Samsung Smart devices • Electronic circuit construction • PC hardware and software installation and configuration • Mobile communication technology – home audio/video wireless networking Smart devices
Year 2 (Progression option to Extended Diploma) • Engineering project – Smart devices • Communications for engineering technicians • Principles and applications of electronic devices and circuits • Electrical technology • Electronic measurement and testing • Principles and applications of analogue electronics • Construction and applications of digital systems • Microprocessor systems and applications • Electronic fault-finding – Smart devices • Learn how to network and stream audio/video with over 39 of the latest Samsung home technology Smart products • Learn how to carry out advanced fault diagnostics and repair on a wide range of Smart technology devices • Learn the latest technologies in 3D, LCD, LED display devices and 3D surround sound systems • Construct, test and fault diagnose electronic circuits and work with the latest digital surface mount technology soldering kits. All students on the course will also develop the essential employability skills to enter employment. Using the latest video conference facilities, students will have the opportunity to interact with employers around the world.
Entry Requirements
4 GCSEs at grade C, including English, Mathematics and Science at grade C or above as a minimum, plus a course interview.
Progression
Advanced Apprenticeships within the Digital Electronics Technology Sector or progression on to University or an employer-led Graduate Apprenticeship programme.
