  • Work within a user-centred approach to counselling
  • Use counselling theory to develop self awareness in counselling practice
  • Understand theories of counselling and mental health
  • Use feedback, reflection and supervision to support counselling studies

Teaching and assessment

Assignments and an exam component.

Entry requirements

A Level 2 CPCAB Certificate in Counselling Skills. You will be asked to attend an interview where you will discuss your readiness to embark on the next stage of training and how you think you meet the characteristics identified below:

  • Ability to translate intra-personal experience into language
  • Are able to benefit from self development
  • Emotional stability
  • Evidence of personal insight
  • Ability to form a helping relationship
  • Awareness of difference and diversity
  • Are able to cope with the course content
  • Be motivated towards developing as a counselling practitioner

Additional course costs

Exam fee and registration fee will also be payable.

Progression

Successful completion of this course leads to eligibility for the two-year Foundation Degree in Integrative Counselling.

Dates and times

This course begins in March and runs on Mondays from 9.30am to 3.00pm. The duration of this course is 15 weeks.
