Full Time

The AS (Advanced Subsidiary)can be taken as a discrete one year qualification or as the first half a full two year A Level. The courses are challenging, rewarding and enjoyable and offer a valuable experience for learners with a keen interest and aptitude in this subject area.


The course enables you to develop skills through a variety of activities. You will understand and analyse live performances, devise and perform whilst working solo and in groups. You will participate in cultural and contextual activities and educational visits to support your studies.

How you will gain the qualification

You will gain this qualification through a written and a practical examination at both AS & A2. Final grades are determined by marks awarded to your written and practical work.


What qualifications you need

A minimum of 6 GCSEs at grades A* - C including English Language, it is not necessary to have a GCSE in Drama or any previous theatrical experience, however a passion for the theatre is essential. Entry to A2 is conditional on achieving A*- E at AS level.


Where to next

You can continue your studies at university or at one of the nationally recognised Drama Schools or gain employment in the Performing Arts Industries.
