There are six mandatory units in this award. There are also two
additional units that can be taken if the setting provides the
candidate with the appropriate work based opportunities. Typical
units include relating to/contributing to positive relationships in
the play setting; supporting children and young people’s play;
dealing with accidents and emergencies; contributing to team work.
The award will further develop the skills you are already using and
will improve confidence and employability.
Assessment includes observations by a qualified assessor in a relevant work setting. Assessment methods are related to vocational competence, that is, assessing how well the learner carries out the duties of their role against specific criteria and values. Each learner will be assigned an assessor who will observe them at regular intervals in the workplace performing their job role. These observations will be supplemented by oral and written questioning and reflective accounts by the learner.
What qualifications you need
Those wishing to access this qualification must be working in a relevant playwork setting, either on an employed or voluntary basis. They must also have the motivation to achieve in what is largely a candidate driven award.
Where to next
Successful candidates may, depending on job role, progress to Playwork Level 3. Alternatively, this qualification could lead to improved career prospects.
