towards regular performances, and in year 2, record and produce
their own personal CD. Weekly lunchtime gigs give students regular
performance opportunities and the opportunity to hear visiting
professional bands and artists. All students perform in Chi-Fest,

very own music festival - Chi-Fest! What will I Study? You will
learn how to; improve your instrumental/vocal technique; perform
with confidence as a soloist and band member; perform in a variety
of musical styles; use a recording studio effectively; use computer
based technology to create, edit and notate music; read and write
musical notation; identify, describe and write about musical
elements; create songs and compositions, market your skills as a
musician; work with other to plan, rehearse for and promote
performances. You will learn about; the history and social context
of popular music; the structure and working of the music industry;
jobs in the music industry. How will I be Taught? You will
experience a wide variety of teaching methods. Instrumental and
group performance skills will be taught through practical
rehearsals and workshop sessions. Studio Recording and Music
Technology will be taught through hands on experience of industry
standard equipment and software. A more classroom based approach
will be used in subjects such as The Music Industry and Music
Theory. How will I be Assessed? A wide variety of assessment
methods will be used. These will include; practical performances,
continuous observation of work, written assignments, group
presentations, timed practical tasks, portfolio building and
