About This Course:

The Professional Development Award (PDA) in Book-Keeping at City of Glasgow College is designed to develop and deliver skills for those working in an accounting or financial administration role, or for anyone seeking to enter employment in this area.

What You Need:

Candidates may gain entry onto the PDA in Book keeping if they have completed the College Certificate in Book keeping, have an NC in Accounting or have a higher or an Intermediate 2 grade A pass. Those with relevant work experience may also be considered. As this is a level 7 qualification, candidates need to have qualifications from at least level 5 or 6 on the SCQF.

What You Study:

The award consists of 3 mandatory Units.

  • Recording Financial Information: This unit introduces working with a double-entry book-keeping system to extract a trial balance and prepare a VAT return.
  • Using Financial Accounting Software: This unit develops knowledge and skills of financial accounting software in the preparation and production of a range of accounting reports.
  • Payroll: This unit helps students in the preparation and operation of manual and computerised payroll records.
After The Course:

The PDA in Book-keeping forms one of a suite of PDAs in Accounting and Finance, which consist of units taken from the HNC in Accounting. The award can be taken as a qualification in its own right or used with other PDAs to build achievement towards the full HNC.

City Campus Charles Oakley

Dates:

1 evening per week for 1 year.

September 2012 to June 2013.
