This exciting, challenging course broadens your experience of
dance through practical technique classes. You learn a range of
classical and popular dance styles.
Throughout the course you will choreograph, direct and perform to
live audiences, as well as learning how to teach dance in a
community context.In addition, you:
study the organisation and structure of the industry
plan, promote, manage and present live performances and events
study the historical and social development of dance
analyse dance works and techniques
make trips to theatres and other performance venues
Assessment is modular and graded with Pass, Merit or
Distinction.
All classes occur in our dance studios. We do mainly group work but
the emphasis is upon each student to maintain a high degree of
fitness. We visit shows, the theatre, do tours and take every
opportunity to participate in all dance events in and around
Oxford
Not only will you achieve a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Dance in Dance, but you also gain valuable skills which help you progress to dance schools and/or work. Confidence, personal fitness, presentation techniques and business awareness all improve.
Applicants for a Level 3 programme will normally have:
- at least 4 GCSEs at grade C or above (including some subjects
related to the proposed area of study) and/or a completed Level 2
award
- the willingness to study for an additional Level 2 qualification
in English and/or maths

Applicants will be invited to attend an interview and complete an
initial assessment. All students will have their literacy and
numeracy needs supported within the programme.
Successful completion leads to opportunities in the dance and performing arts industry, or progression to further study at university or a specialist college.
