Confetti is part of the Confetti Media Group, which includes Spool Post (a film and TV post production company) Denizen (a record label), Constellations (designers and manufacturers of learning environments) and Antenna, Nottingham’s creative industries business centre and home to the annual GameCity Festival head office.
Upon successful completion of the course you will have the option to top-up to a BSc (Hons) in one of the media curriculum areas after a further year of study at DMU.

Entry and admission criteria
Entry requirements for 2014
- Normally 160 UCAS tariff points from at least two A levels or equivalent with five GCSE's at grade C or above including English and Maths.
- BTEC requirements: Merit Merit (MM) at National Certificate level or Pass Pass Pass (PPP) at National Diploma Level
- International Baccalaureate: 24+ points.

We welcome applications from mature students with non-standard qualifications and recognise all other equivalent and international qualifications.
If English is not your first language, an IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent when you start the course is essential. English language tuition| is available at DMU both before and during the course if required.
Teaching and assessment
The course is a mixture of theory and practice involving challenging projects and assignments. Taught sessions are a combination of lectures, classes, seminars, industry events and field sessions. In addition, there is ample scope for independent learning involving short film and documentary production and sound design projects.
A series of client based projects also take place through close links with Spool Films in Nottingham. You will be taught by industry professionals who help you gain work experience through their contacts and ongoing projects.

Work experience and placements
One of the very few foundation degrees in this area with a technical emphasis, you will gain experience in every aspect of video and broadcast production, including: HD camera operation, film and television editing techniques, documentary production, motion graphics and compositing and film soundtrack design and production.
You will benefit from an events programme featuring guest speakers, business seminars and product demonstrations. You will be given access to bespoke activities during Confetti’s ‘Industry Week’ event, where key industry guests gather for talks, lectures and workshops with students. Previous guests have included: BBC Radio 1 DJ Huw Stephens; Aziz Ibrahim, guitarist with Ian Brown, The Stone Roses and Paul Weller; BBC producer Andy Rogers; Ministry of Sound DJ/ remixer Billy ‘Daniel’ Bunter and former Director General of the BBC, Greg Dyke.
Confetti students will also be in a unique position to gain real TV industry experience as part of NOTTS TV, which begins broadcasting on Freeview Channel 8 in 2014.
Graduate careers
Many career opportunities exist in the creative industries, one of the fastest growing sectors of the UK economy. Digital video technology plays a crucial role in a variety of different sectors such as; television and film production, web design, digital authoring and visual effects. Some potential areas of work that you can pursue after completing the course are camera operation, broadcast engineering, video editing, producing for fi lm or television and visual effects compositing.
A large number of students who complete the course successfully progress to relevant employment, self-employment or to further study. Upon achieving sufficient credit, you can also progress to a BSc (Hons) degree in one of the media technology curriculum areas after a further year of study at DMU.
