Banksman & Slinger Training (Stage 1)
Being part of the Falck group of companies has provided Falck Safety Services with significant benefits in the expanding wind power business sector. In November 2011, we officially launched our industrial training unit in Teesside, which has state-of-the-art facilities to cater for offshore wind farm safety training. We are now leading from the front in providing dedicated safety training for the wind and renewable sectors.
Delegates attending this training and assessment programme will be given a series of
explanations and demonstrations which will identify what they are expected to know and do
when involved in Slinging and Lifting Operations. This will be followed by practical exercises,
which will allow delegates to demonstrate their skills and be individually assessed by an
experienced assessor.

Knowledge of all relevant legislation and safe systems of work
Preparation and lifting plans
Equipment pre-use inspection
Safe and correct use of equipment
Slinging principles and terminology
Appreciation of crane operating principles
Weight estimation

Appreciation of crane operating principles
Weight estimation
Hand signalling and the use of hand held radios
Lifting and moving loads including tubular, unbalanced and pre-slung
Appreciation of environmental and dynamic factors
Correct loading/unloading of containers, half heights and skips
On successful completion of this course delegates would have completed a theoretical test,
and have participated in various live lifts simulated during this training.
On successful completion delegates will be issued with an OPITO approved Banksman &
Slinger Operations (Stage 1) certificate, which is valid for 2 years
