This course is suitable for learners who would like to further explore the creative potential of their cameras. The Creative Photographic Composition programme is designed to run as three five week courses in each of the three academic terms with each one running with a slightly different focus. This course is suitable for learners who would like to further explore the creative potential of their cameras. The Creative Photographic Composition programme is designed to run as three five week courses in each of the three academic terms with each one running with a slightly different focus. In the first and second terms learners will - work mainly in the studios - learn how different forms of lighting can be used to capture mood and movement - look at how photography has used and adapted classical motifs - look at how photographers have used dynamic composition to create pictorial drama In the third term learners will - focus on taking photographs in the landscape - travel to different sites around the city - discover how to use ambient light - find out more about the devices a photographer can use to capture the changing light and how it impacts on buildings, people and the natural world. Most of the sessions will be run as practical sessions and allow students to further explore the creative potential of their cameras on a manual setting while also considering the artistic potential of composition and chiaroscuro. Subject matter will include The Vanitas Still Life, The Inner City Landscape and The Portrait. Entry CriteriaSuitable for learners who would like to further explore the creative potential of their cameras. Our recreational courses generally appeal to learners aged 19 and older.
Progression DetailsThere is no qualification associated with this class. Learners may consider taking an A level or National Diploma in photography.
