The Level 2 Certificate is intended for those who have some knowledge of the world of wines and spirits. It is suitable wherever a sound but simple level of product knowledge is required to underpin job skills and competences for example in customer sales and service in the hospitality, retail or wholesale industries. It is also useful for those who are not employed in the industry, but wish to develop their interest and knowledge of the subject. The Level 2 Certificate is intended for those who have some knowledge of the world of wines and spirits. They will also understand the principles of wine tasting and evaluation. You will be assessed through a 50 question multi-choice paper. Other students on this course have enjoyed working together as a group in developing their appreciation of wine and spirits.
Additional NotesThe course requires all students on their first class to bring with them file paper and a pen. The materials fee charged covers the cost of the wines and spirits tasted and a student textbook and study pack.
Entry CriteriaThere are no requirements for any formal qualifications or experience, all you need is an interest in wines and spirits and the desire to learn more about them. This course is suitable for both those in the catering and hospitality business or amateurs interested in finding out more about wine.
Progression DetailsStudents can progress to the Wine and Spirit Education Trust Level 3 Advanced Certificate in Wine and Spirits. This will cover the topics in much more depth and enable students to give advice to those responsible for buying wine and spirits for a business. They may also wish to develop their understanding of spirits through the Wine and Spirit Education Trust Level 2 Professional Certificate in Spirits.
