Level 1 in Work - based Animal Care is a one - year programme reflecting the skills and knowledge needed to carry out a job effectively under supervision. The qualification is made up of both core and optional units covering a wide range of knowledge areas:

- Health and Safety
- Maintenance of equipment, cleanliness and security
- The movement and handling of small animals

Entry Requirements
There are no formal qualifications required for entry onto this programme although a sound knowledge of written and spoken English is required and an interest in or previous experience with animals is desirable.
