Masters Level Module
This module examines the role, status, purpose and practice of history in a variety of national settings. It analyses the ways in which national identities and history education relate. It explores the ideological arguments used to justify the teaching of particular versions of a nation's past. You will compare and contrast a variety of approaches from around the globe to history education (curriculum models, textbook usage, and classroom teaching). You should be able to apply what you learn to your own context and consider what constitutes a worthwhile education in history.
