This course is aimed at students who want to work or are already working within the grooming profession. It is an intensive course that will cover the requirements for the City & Guilds Level 2 certificate for Dog Grooming Assisants, and will prepare the student for progression onto the next level.

This course will also suit mature students who are looking for a change in career.

Course Content

Throughout the weeks you will learn how to groom, bathe and carry our basic trims on a wide variety of dog breeds - each to their own individual breed specifications.

Units include:

  • Prepare and groom dogs prior to bathing
  • Bathe and clean dogs
  • Clean and maintain equipment used for grooming or removing hair from animals
  • Control and restrain animals
  • Dry dogs and prepare their coats for styling
  • Basic clipper, scissoring and hand stripping skills.

Plus optional unit selected by the tutor

Entry Requirements

Minimum entry age is 16 years. Genuine interest in working with dogs. Patience and enthusiasm.
