The 90 Credit Diploma in Outdoor Adventure is suited to the
outdoor enthusiast who enjoys a practical approach to learning and
is looking to progress into further education or employment. By
specialising in outdoor and adventurous activities and coaching
this course is particularly suited to those who also aspire to work
in the sports / outdoor adventure industry. The programme includes
written assignments and classroom work alongside the practicals so
the ability to work to deadlines is crutial. This course is the
equivalent to one A Level plus an AS Level.

Skills for Water-based Outdoor and Adventurous Activities
The course includes the following additional
qualifications:
1st4sport Level 1 Award in Coaching Orienteering (QCF)
1st4sport Level 2 Award in Principles of Coaching Sport (QCF)
British Canoe Union Paddlepower Awards
In partnership with Thomas Hardye Schools, we are also offering
students on the Extended Diploma course the option to study an AS
level in Physical Education 1 day a week at Thomas Hardy School
Practical content includes:
Orienteering (including competitions), Climbing, Caving,
Navigation, Paddlesport (Kayaking & Canoeing), Ropes Course,
Archery, Persoanl Training (Gym) and Team Sports.
Three days studying at college. Plus:
Attendance of Orienteering events on Wednesday’s and weekends. This
is a pre-requisite for the 1st4sport L1 Award in Coaching
Orienteering. Typically you will need to attend a minimum of 1 per
month.
Entry Requirements
Minimum of four GCSEs at Grade A*-C, including English and Maths. Functional Skills at Level 2. First Diploma / Level 2 Diploma at Merit level. A proven enthusiam and experience in outdoor adventure.
Next Steps/Employment?
Employment within the sports / outdoor adventure industry
dependant upon age and previous experience.
Continuation onto the Extended Diploma or Professional Outdoor
Instructor courses.
Higher Education or Apprenticeships.
This is also an ideal course for someone considering entering the
Public Services, Youth Work, Leisure Centres and Holiday Parks.
