Description

You will cover a wide range of subject and media.  You will be given set projects but this will be combined with workshop sessions that encourage the individual to develop their ideas and interests.  It is possible to attend both am and pm classes as both follow the same course.  All abilities welcome. 

Additional costs will be incurred for the materials used during the course.

Learner & Entry Requirements: 

Some basic knowledge of the subject will be helpful but not essential. Old clothes are recommended. You will be required to provide all your own art materials, a full list will be provided at the first session. A model may be used during the course and a fee of approximately of £5 wil…

General & First session:

Please bring an A3 sketch pad (cartridge paper) and a 2B or 3B pencil and an eraser if you have them but do not buy specifically for the course as KAE is unable to offer refunds for any materials, equipment or books if the course is subsequently closed.

Course Aim & Objectives: 

To introduce you to a wide range of media & subject matter, provide a balance between development of personal interests & the exploration of new areas of study as directed by the tutor.

Become confident and skilled and know how to express your personal vision in a variety of techniques.

Have a grasp of drawing in line and tone, and understand how to mix colour.

Assessment: 

One to one and general observation. Group appraisal and discussion. Question and answer sessions, Individual learning plans.

Public exhibition of work (though not on a regular basis and not compulsory)

On this course you will gain the following skills and knowledge:

  • Drawing skills in pencil, charcoal, pen and ink, pastel, crayon.
  • Painting skills mixing colour in at least one paint medium using primary colours.
  • Analysing the techniques of known artists.
  • Work from still life, life, landscape, imagination.
  • Experimental mark making in a variety of media.
