This course, which is equivalent to SCQF level 4/5, is designed to give an introduction to the care and welfare of small animals. The course is split between practical and class-based activities.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

This course is suitable for people with Foundation/General Standard Grades, Intermediate 1's or National 4 qualifications. Some experience of animals, even as pets, is an advantage. All applicants should have a genuine interest in animals and be prepared for the theory/written work associated with the course.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

This course is assessed on a continuous basis and does not include an end-of-course examination. Coursework takes the form of short tests, reports, and practical work. The assessment of student work is undertaken by College staff, and all candidates will be given regular updates on their progress.

PROGRESSION ROUTES / CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Students who are successful in the introductory course can progress to NC Animal Care SCQF level 5, or suitable employment.
