Is this course for me?

This course is aimed at individuals who would like to work within the hospitality industry. It teaches a wide range of skills to students to give them a firm understanding of the operations on within a restaurant.

What qualifications or skills do I require to study this course?

Four GCSEs at Grade D or above preferably including English and Mathematics or NVQ Level 1 or equivalent.

What does the course involve?

You will study the following mandatory units:

• Investigate the catering and hospitality industry
• Principles of customer service in hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism
• Products, services and support in the hospitality industry
• Providing customer service in hospitality

You can also choose to study the following optional units:

• Healthier food and special diets
• Applying workplace skills
• Prepare, cook and finish food
• Service of food at table
• Service of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks
• Consumer rights
• Planning and running a hospitality event
• Alcoholic drinks
• Accommodation services in hospitality Hospitality front office operation

What option will be open to me if I successfully complete the course? You can progress to Level 3 Food & Beverage Supervision or a cookery related course. You may seek employment in a front of house position.
