This masterclass is a unique opportunity at Nottingham Trent University for anyone interested in the international film industry, TV, theatre or fine art who wants to learn how to create body casts. Not only that, it's led by the man who headed the team for the original Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Superman movies (plus many more).
On this one-day course you will be introduced to body casting, with up-close demonstrations using specialist materials and innovative techniques. A live demonstration of part of a male's chest and shoulder will be moulded by the craft of lifecasting. A sample cast (mould only) will be on show and there will be plenty of opportunity to examine the process and interact with the tutor and model. As the day progresses there will be talks about the structure of the movie industry and the costume and special effects departments. You will have the chance to ask questions about careers in the movies, TV and theatre, learn some insider tricks of the trade and have handled examples of body casts. It will be an interactive and lively day, with a bit of mess-making and plenty to talk about.
This masterclass will be perfect for anyone in the film, theatre or costume industries who wishes to expand their skills in body casting, or for anyone studying these subjects in search of inspiration. It is also suitable for artists working in 3D.
By the end of the day you will be fully confident in exploring this exciting process yourself at home or in the studio, and have heard some amazing anecdotes from one of the world's most experienced people in this exciting and creative part of the movie business.
