What will I study?

This is a demanding and exciting programme that requires you to immerse yourself in reading, thinking, discussion, reflection and writing, enabling you to take the next, critical step in your professional learning.

The course allows you to investigate a range of issues impacting on education in general and your own field in particular. We want you to challenge your thinking.

Each module has an assignment attached to it that is linked to your own experience, applying theory and practice and ensuring that your own working practices gain practical benefits from your study.

The award is offered at three levels, MA, Postgraduate Diploma and Postgraduate Certificate. It is expected that all students on the full-time programme will study for the MA award. For those wishing to gain an MA award, the Research Skills and Dissertation modules are mandatory.

How will I learn?

While completing your Masters you will study in a number of ways including:

  • Blended learning
  • Our virtual online learning environment (NOW)
  • Distance learning
  • Teaching at your own institution (by prior arrangement)
  • Learning through practical experience in an educational setting
  • Study sets.

The programme content reflects the changing education environment and is subject to regular review and development.

Study modes

Taught sessions and tutorials are at our Clifton campus. The course can on occasion be undertaken in your own institution by prior arrangement.

Assessment

Modules are assessed, there are no formal examinations. In addition, students will work on a number of different small scale research projects based in their work or educational attachment setting, literature reviews, small scale research projects and a research based dissertation.
