You'll explore all aspects of the communication of fashion brands, products and services. This course gives you a powerful combination of targeted creative skills and insightful industry perspective. This will give you a full understanding of the relationship between fashion brands and the creative processes and media that promote them in the fast-paced fashion industry.
You'll acquire a range of skills through theoretical and live project-based case studies, working both individually and in groups. You will work directly with fashion and lifestyle brands which will allow you to explore a range of roles and career opportunities.
Modules include:
- Fashion Media and Journalism
- Visual Merchandising
- PR and Events Management
- Trend Forecasting and Fashion Prediction
- Ecommerce Development and Digital Platforms.
This course does not cover garment design and construction, and a creative portfolio is not required for entry.

Year One
- Get to grips with the principles of fashion research development and communication.
- Develop your understanding of the fashion and creative landscape.
- Study visual awareness, design and visual culture.
- Learn how to develop vital industry contacts and networks.
Year Two
- Tackle live projects and team challenges.
- Develop style-based communication skills.
- Explore the role of text and image in print, media, advertising, in-store design and event management.
Year Three
Research, put together and present your very own independent study project. After consultation with your tutor, you can focus your study on what you are most interested in:
- advertising and media
- print and fashion journalism
- visual merchandising, in-store design
- fashion forecasting and trend prediction
- art direction and styling
- events management or public relations.
Assessment is continuous throughout this course and based on coursework.
Specialist equipment and facilitiesLocated within the highly successful and established fashion department, the facilities available include modern studios and workshops, fully integrated IT systems and CAD (computer-aided design) suites.

OpportunitiesFashion is a global business and learning your trade means getting out there and seeing how the world works.
In your first year you'll have the chance to take a five-day study trip to New York. You'll see the American market first hand, visiting Manhattan's Fashion Institute of Technology.
In Year Two, there's the chance to visit some of Europe's major fashion capitals and top trade exhibitions. In the past few years, students have visited cities including Paris, Berlin and Florence.
Finally, in your third year, you'll have the chance to take in all that Tokyo has to offer, during a week-long study trip to one of the world's most vibrant and directional fashion destinations.
There's also the opportunity to go on an exchange visit to New York's Fashion Institute of Technology in Year Two.
Industry focusThroughout the course you'll have exciting chances to work on live projects and enter high-profile competitions in collaboration with major brands and industry leaders.
