Course Description:
This course is for support personnel who want to learn basic NIM concepts and how to perform basic NIM tasks such as setting up the master, performing a base RTE and mksysb install, defining common resources, basic lpp_source and SPOT management, and how to handle ongoing client updates.
This course is designed for Network administrators, system administrators, or other personnel responsible for the installation and maintenance of AIX code.

Course Description:

This course is designed for Network administrators, system administrators, or other personnel responsible for the installation and maintenance of AIX code.
After completing this course, you should be able to:
- Understand basic NIM concepts and terminology
- Setup a NIM master
- Perform a base AIX (RTE) install
- Define and utilize common NIM resources such as bosinst_data, installp_bundle, resolv_conf and scripts
- Understand basic NIM network issues
- Perform a NIM client mksysb backup and restore
- Perform a manual and an automated PUSH install
- Query information within lpp_sources, SPOTs and clients
- Maintain lpp_sources and SPOTs for clients at multiple levels
- Perform ongoing installation updates for lpp_sources, SPOTs and clients
This course is strongly recommended for anyone who is required to administer an IBM eServer 1600 Cluster or LPAR system
