The Programme
This course is designed to further the knowledge covered in Level 1. The course covers removal of structural panels, paint defects, glass fibre and the different material and paint finishes associated with modern vehicle technology. Specialist materials and equipment will also be introduced. Students will investigate the removal and refitting of structural panels and different techniques of joining material. Refinishing will investigate the different types of paint equipment commonly used such as spray booths and paint mixing schemes. Defects in paint and how they can be rectified are covered at this level.
The Programme Content
Entry Requirements
Candidates must have completed the Level 1 course. Students who have prior knowledge of the industry and relevant industrial experience may be accepted onto the course after interview and assessment of skills.
Costs
Safety clothing will be required.
Candidates will be expected to purchase their own dust mask for
hygiene reasons. A fee of £100 will be applied to the programme to
cover materials that will be used as part of the programme.
There will also be an opportunity to attend two motor vehicle
related shows, employers permission will be required*.

Progression
Students who complete the course can enter the industry as a semi-skilled technician; as a third year Apprentice, depending on work placement; or progress to Level 3.
