  • Material considerations in determining applications
  • The decision making process
  • Importance of pollution control to the planning system
  • Interaction with Local Authority objectives
  • Developing an effective system for internal consultation
  • Inputting pollution control information to the Local Development Plan and Development Control
  • Using published guidance e.g. PPG24, BS4142, WHO Community Noise guidelines, British Standards
  • Developing a structured methodology
  • Understanding the source/receiver path and the what/where/when principle
  • Evaluation of consultants reports
  • Decision making and the classes of decisions that may be made
  • Drafting of appropriate and sustainable planning conditions
  • Enforcement of planning conditions
