session is an introduction aimed at those working in a wide range
of adult Heath and Social Care settings. It introduces the
important area of safeguarding individuals from abuse. It

will cover power of attorney Learners will attend a 6 hour workshop
which will provide underpinning knowledge regarding safeguarding
issues Learners will be provided with resources required on the
day. A Course for All staff working in the adult health and social
care sectors who are involved in the support and/or care of
vulnerable adults. Entry Requirements None required. Assessment
Continuous assessment throughout the day. Learning Outcome There
aresixlearning outcomes. The learner will: 1Know how to recognise
signs of abuse. 2Know how to respond to suspected or alleged abuse.
3Understand the national and local context of safeguarding and
protection from abuse. 4 Understand ways to reduce the likelihood
of abuse. 5Know how to recognise and report unsafe practices. 6Gain
introduction to Mental Capacity Act. 7Understand issues relating to
Deprivation of Liberty and Power of Attorney. Progression after
Programme The underpinning knowledge from this session could be
used in conjunction with the Level Two Diploma in Health and Social
Care (Adults).
