The Art and Design Club (13 -16 years)

The Art and Design Club is great creative fun for those who are serious about art. This fascinating course will give aspiring young artists and designers the opportunity to experience working in our specialist art and design studios.

Come along and have fun exploring a range of innovative and exciting image making processes and techniques. The course is taught by experienced teachers and practicing artists with experience of working in industry or regularly exhibiting their own work.

You will get to experiment with a variety of art materials and media and learn how to safely produce art and design work in 2D and 3D. You will learn a range of drawing, painting and printing techniques exploring the use of line, tone, colour and mixed media to produce design work and expressive artwork. This club aims to give you the confidence to be more experimental, creative and curious about how to make art and take the next steps towards a career in the UK creative industries.

The Art and Design Club is designed to be a fun interactive and hands-on approach to creative learning. There is no formal assessment but you will get constructive feedback and advice from your teacher and other students. There will be a mix of approaches including workshop activity, practical demonstrations and mini exhibitions.

The Art and Design Club provides you with the opportunity to improve your skills and be creatively experimental. You will have access to the creative expertise of our talented art tutors and access to our specialist facilities. The club is a great way to meet other young aspiring artists and designers, and to learn together and from each other.

There are no entry qualifications - we just want you to be enthusiastic about art and design and to have an open mind to the potential of your own creativity.

Many students who have studied short part-time art and design courses at the college have been inspired to join one of our many full-time specialist creative courses. Attending the Art and Design Club can help build your confidence skills and your art portfolio. This can help you improve and enhance your GCSE work and help guide you into studying Further Education.
