History

BA History

The study of history remains one of the basic pillars of a sound education. Learning from the past is an integral part of preparing for the future.  A historical perspective adds significantly to your understanding of contemporary events. 

Our History major is an enriching experience that allows you to study and research the major social, political, cultural and economic events of the past and how they relate to the present.  You will learn to analyse the causes and effects of historical and political events. 

This major will enable you to develop

• HIST 2600 The Craft of History
• INTL 1500 The World System since 1500
• American History courses
• European History courses
• Political Science/International Relations courses
• Non-Western History courses
• A course in a non-native language (this requirement will be waived for students whose native language is not English and who are studying in English)
