Course Aims & Objectives
The underlying aim of the Foundation in Psychology course is to provide a challenging yet enjoyable overview of many aspects of psychology and gradually introducing theoretical, methodological and practical elements. This provides prospective psychology degree applicants with a head start and a thorough foundation on which to build their future study.
Holistic Approach to Psychology
The programme covers not only the typical core areas of psychology but also applied psychologies, statistics, research methods and topics drawn from counselling and psychotherapy. The course therefore provides a holistic approach to psychology - rather than focussing on one particular area or school of thought.
In addition the programme includes essential study skills, supervised study and the potential to explore topics in a freer non-pressurised environment in group tutorials. As a student centred course, all students are offered pastoral support from a personal tutor as well as the opportunity to contact individual academics and academic materials.
With a innovative wide ranging syllabus and small class sizes, this foundation course in psychology aims to attract a diverse student body from varying backgrounds and levels of experience.
The school facilitates and nurtures an atmosphere of intrinsic motivation, mutual understanding and support within a student-centred, professional and responsible environment.
