Design and Technology Education – MA

We designed the first year to help you achieve the PgCert in Design and Technology Education.

The course reflects the dynamic and rapidly changing design and technology curriculum in schools. It enhances your vision and philosophy of design and technology.

As a key contributor to the secondary school curriculum, the course sets the agenda for your own professional development and allows you to take a leading role in developing the subject.

The flexible structure enables you to fit your studies around professional and personal commitments, while working towards a postgraduate qualification. This can be demanding, so we offer web-based learning environments, email, discussion groups and telephone support.

Through a range of study and activity, you develop generic and specific management skills needed for today’s curriculum manager.

The course also recognises the need for teachers to update their own subject knowledge and skills in line with modern industrial practice. This helps you to provide the necessary leadership in a dynamic design and technology environment.

We structure the course on teachers’ work patterns in school and use your school as a major source of information for research and development. We also encourage active collaboration between course members working in different establishments.
