Mixed Media (Painting Drawing)
The course aims to build confidence and ability to handle basic materials and provide an introduction to drawing and painting.
Instruction will be in a variety of medium including paint, charcoal, pencil, pen and ink. Students will learn the fundamentals of line, tone, colour, composition, perspective and figure drawing.
Each term will run as an independent unit, exploring a different set of materials and techniques. This will build to a full programme of study, culminating in portrait and figure drawing in term 3.
How long does the course last?
The course runs for 2 hours per week.
What equipment will I need?
- Pencils HB, 2B, 4B, 6B
- Malleable putty rubber, plastic…

- Malleable putty rubber, plastic eraser and sharpener
- A3 hard backed sketchbook of good quality cartridge paper
- Thick charcoal
- Masking Tape
- Pair of bulldog clips
- Portfolio to hold A1 paper would be useful
Further materials will be advised by the tutor.
