• Customer Service in Travel and Tourism
• UK Travel Destinations
• Recommending a Package Holiday
• The Role of Overseas Resort Representatives and Air Cabin
Crew
• Planning for a trip to a visitor attraction and a job in Travel
and Tourism
You will also study 7 PSD Units to develop confidence, social
awareness and skills for work, and basic functional skills in
Maths, English and ICT which must also be completed as part of your
course. Entry Qualification: For entry onto this course you should
have at least one of the following:
• Four GCSEs at grade G in individual subjects
• An Entry Certificate in Skills for Working Life, Life Skills or
other Entry Qualification
• An appropriate standard of literacy and numeracy
• All applicants will be required to attend an interview to discuss
their related interests and experiences for applying and complete
an initial diagnostic assessment. Special Features: The course
provides students with an opportunity to develop skills, personal
qualities and an attitude to succeed in working life. You will go
on several trips, where you will see firsthand how functions work
in industry. Trips could include visits to local attractions,
accommodation providers and theme parks. We do ask for a
contribution to your educational trips of £25.00 which is payable
at the beginning of term. Course Format: You will be assessed
through written coursework and a range of practical assessment
throughout the year.
This practical, hands on course is designed to encourage you to
develop the personal skills and qualities you need for work,
learning and to help you achieve your full potential. You will
learn through a variety of methods from practical, group work,
worksheets and other class based activities with support, all
aiding the learning experience and knowledge of travel. The course
allows the improvement of interpersonal skills such as
communication and teamwork.
Progression: When you have passed your course (to a Merit profile),
you will also have the option of progressing onto the City and
Guilds level 2 Diploma in Travel and Tourism or the City and Guilds
Level 2 in Travel Services. Progression is subject to an interview,
good attendance, punctuality, attitude and completion of all
vocational, PSD and functional skills units. Alternatively you may
wish to move straight into employment in the Hospitality or Travel
and Tourism industries.
