About this course
The Level 3 NVQ in Occupational Health and Safety is suitable for those whose role includes the area of general health and safety practice. All such practitioners are involved in risk assessment the identification of workplace hazards and determining strategies for control.

About this course
The Level 3 NVQ in Occupational Health and Safety is suitable for
those whose role includes the area of general health and safety

The Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH) accepts
this qualification for membership at Technician level (TechIOSH)
subject to experience.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements; however students
undertaking the Level 3 NVQ Certificate must be engaged in a
substantial H&S role within their organisation. Competence is
assessed by results rather than examination.
Length of Study?
An average time for completion of the NVQ is 12
months.
Study Method
NVQs are completed largely
at your workplace and there are no mandatory classroom sessions,
however we provide a number of taught sessions at our offices in
Bristol where candidates will be given specific guidance on the
subjects and shown how to produce a portfolio of evidence based on
course work and practice.
Introductory Day
An introductory day will
be held at Bristol. During this day candidates will:-
- be introduced to the NVQ system
- gain an understanding of the health and safety NVQ
- conduct and audit of their current competence
- develop an action plan for the completion of the NVQ
- learn how to develop a portfolio of evidence
Support tutorials will be held at targeted intervals following the
induction day during which facilitators will:-
- explain the requirements of each Unit of Competence
- outline the key areas of the domain knowledge and understanding
- discuss the various forms of evidence available
- assist candidates to develop their initial action plans
- assist candidates to develop their portfolios of evidence
- assess any completed units of the NVQ
