Students will be advised with individual help and demonstrations to improve within their chosen media.
Still life subjects will be provided and practical help will be given on perspective, colour mixing, composition, paintings from photographs and sketches.
Media will include watercolour, oil paints, pastels and acrylics.
The course also provides an opportunity for students to share in ideas and critiques.

Assessment:
Learners will be assessed throughout the course. Progress will be monitored against targets set by the tutor and learner at the commencement of the course. These targets will include a combination of learning outcomes specified by the tutor and the learners own personal aims and objectives. Learner progress towards all of these targets will be reviewed and recorded in an Individual Learning plan, during and at the end of the course.

There will be opportunity to progress onto
other similar or associated courses on successful completion. The
possibilities will be discussed by the tutor at an appropriate
stage. Please be sure to ask your tutor.

Brushes - for oils or watercolours -
synthetic bristles are good but sable brushes are best for
watercolours.
Paints (basic colours) eg. scarlet lake, cadmium yellow, cobalt
blue, burnt sienna, vandyke brown, a large tube of white.
Oils - turps and container, cotton rags (for wiping brushes),
palette or greaseproof paper to mix paint on. Canvas boards or
canvases.
Watercolour - palate, water jar, soft tissues for wiping brushes,
pencils and a soft rubber. A good watercolour paper e.g. 140lb or
300gsm weight.
