The technical certificate comprises of modules that underpin the apprentice¿s knowledge and understanding of engineering.

Entry Requirements:
Interview required
You will be assessed for your potential to
achieve the apprenticeship. The assessment will depend upon the
level and range of activities you will be undertaking in the
workplace.
You may need to undergo an initial assessment of your English and
maths skills in which you are required to be working at or towards
level 1.
It is strongly recommended that apprentices have reached a minimum
of grade D at GCSE (or equivalent) in maths, English and
science.
At the start of your apprenticeship programme you will need to be
employed by a suitable and appropriate employer for at least 16
hours a week (preferably for at least 30 hours per week). You also
need to have been a resident in the EU for at least 3 years.
Commitment and motivation are necessary to complete the course.
Assessment:
All qualifications will be delivered in
college on a day-release basis. College tutors/assessors and
internal verifiers will ensure that all NVQ and key skills
portfolios meet the required standard of competence.
The technical certificate will also prove the apprentice¿s
competence, knowledge and understanding at level 2.
Employee Rights and Responsibilities is assessed through completion
of a workbook, or delivered as a separate qualification.
PTLS is evidenced through work and learning activities or delivered
as a separate qualification.
Progression from this course:
Upon completion of the ILA, the learner could progress to an Advanced Level Apprenticeship (ALA) where opportunities exist to gain Level 3 qualifications according to the chosen pathway e.g. fabrication and welding, engineering maintenance etc.

Course Costs:
There are currently no fees payable by young people on Apprenticeship programmes. Fees may be payable by the employer where the candidate is 19 or older. Details available on request.
