Description
This is a practical course for those learners that are progressing from level 1. This course will provide learners with a further year to improve employability and social skills.
Subjects include:
- Maintain Health and Wellbeing
- Basic treatments
- Accommodation
- Communicate information in the workplace
- Exercise animals
- Control and restrain animals
You will also complete additional qualifications and functional skills in the following:
- ABC Level 2 Certificate in Small Animals (Animal Welfare) – assessed by portfolio of evidence
- NCFE Certificate in Developing Enterprise Skills Level 2
- NCFE Certificate Employability Skills Level 1

Entry Requirements:
Interview required
Full completion of our current level 1
qualification with course director reference and excellent
attendance/ reports. Students should be at least 16 years old and
be able to show an enthusiastic and positive interest in an animal
career.
For some students an agreement will be reached to comply with an
academic contract from the start of the course. Consideration will
be given to exceptional circumstances.
Assessment:
You will build up a portfolio of evidence which will be assessed by a combination of written tests, projects, assignment work and demonstration of competence in a range of practical tasks.

Course Costs:
All students on full-time courses will need to pay a materials / resources fee. Details will be provided before enrolment. If you are under 19 on 31st August in the year you begin your programme, you will not have to pay tuition or registration fees for your course. For students aged 19 or over, there will be a tuition fee (depends on the course) for each year of the course as well as a registration fee (which includes exam fees). However, many students will be eligible for reduced fees and / or financial support towards the costs. Click here for detailed information.
