Course summary

You set up and run a performance and production company to manage all aspects of the year's work. From marketing to taking bookings and devising the drama, performing or producing it and balancing the books, you work in a team with particular responsibilities but with team work at the centre, just how small-scale theatre companies run. You are supported by a board of advisers from the creative industries. Not only do you set up this company, you take it on tour around Cumbria and beyond.

You learn good business practices from business, banking and marketing advisers, they may not be so glamorous, but they are essential for success.

Core modules include professional development, project management and cultural entrepreneurship. There is a balance between theory and practice and between individual and group work.

You work with students on other courses, including Film and Television Production/camera courses. You also meet and work with people already active in the creative industries in Cumbria and further afield.
