Recruitment and Selection Workshop

This interactive, practical workshop will be invaluable to anyone who is involved in recruitment and selection decisions, including line managers and Human Resource practitioners. The workshop will equip you with the background knowledge, skills and confidence to recruit good quality candidates by using fair, objective and robust methods.  

Most line managers in organisations will be involved in recruiting new members of staff at some point during their careers – many will be involved in this activity on a regular basis. However it is often a topic which managers do not receive training on and simply learn by copying other interviewers they have worked with. This can lead to poor practices and poor decision making.

This 1 day course will give anyone who is responsible for recruiting a clear overview of the recruitment process, the legal implications for recruitment, and best practice in relation to interviewing techniques.

• Describe the features of a ‘best practice’ recruitment process
• Describe the advantages and disadvantages of different selection methods and interview formats
• Use effective questioning skills to select the best candidate for a role
• Explain the legal requirements of recruitment interviewing (e.g. legislation relating to discrimination)
• Generate appropriate questions and interview topics to be used in live interviews
• Demonstrate effective interviewing skills through skills practice and feedback in a safe environment
